Weekend Meals in Barcelona

Weekend Meals in Barcelona

If you are looking to splurge a little or go out with friends on the weekends these are the places.

Robata — Carrer d'Enric Granados, 55, 08008 Barcelona, Spain

I am not some sushi connoisseur, however, Robata was easily the best sushi I have had in my life. Robata is definitely not a cheap spot but definitely worth the money. The ingredients are all extremely fresh. For appetizers the spicy edamame is a must and could easily feed three people. The rolls might seem a little precarious for some people but the quality of the fish is really what stands out. I highly recommend ordering at least one nigiri roll to really just taste the fish.

La ParadetaMultiple Locations

La Paradeta is a seafood lover's dream. You walk in to find almost every type of seafood set up like a market. You pick any type of fresh seafood they offer and they give you two options, grilled or fried. To maximize your visit go with a large group order as much as you can along with a couple of bottles of wine to wash down your feast. The fried seafood is perfectly accompanied by their delicious sauces and the grilled is usually topped with a sauce similar to Italian salsa verde.

La Pizza del Sortidor —  Carrer de Blasco de Garay, 46, 08004 Barcelona, Spain

All around Barcelona you will see restaurants advertising pizza. However, the only top-tier pizza spot I could find was La Pizza del Sortidor. A relatively small spot that offers wood-fired pizzas with quality Italian ingredients. No reservation needed, simply walk in ask for a table there might be a five-minute wait but they churn people in and out pretty quickly. They have a multitude of options along with cheap wine and beer. Also, make sure to ask for a free shot of Limoncello at the end of your meal.

My Fucking Restaurant Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 35, 08001 Barcelona, Spain

Yes, that is the name. Luckily for the owner, the restaurant was extremely delicious. The waiter told us the food is Mediterranean with inspiration from northern and southern Italy. The highlight of the meal was the steak, which you cook yourself with a propane torch (seen below). It seems a little gimmicky but it gives the steak flavor since you are burning the embers under the steak. They have a lengthy wine list to go along with all the food. My favorites were the steak, the mussels, and the fish (seen at the top).

Sensi — Carrer Ample, 26, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

The number of tapas restaurants in Barcelona can be overwhelming. I found Sensi when I was looking for a nicer tapas place for a special occasion. They offer a wide arrange of tapas making it easy to end up ordering a little too much food. You can find more classic choices such as patatas bravas, pimientos, and Iberian ham. They also offer tapas that will be hard to find anywhere else such as cured salmon with avocado and jalapeño emulsion, squid with peanut sauce and red curry emulsion, and much much more. Nothing is priced outrageously making it a great spot for a weekend dinner.
